Professional Endorsement – Dr. Jennifer Mead, DVM, CVA, CCRP, CSCC

I have been very pleased with the Biko K9 Weight Cuffs. I recently worked with a Cane Corso recovering from an FHO procedure. While his  progress was steady, we struggled to build muscle mass on the affected leg. After introducing the 1oz weight, he gained 1.5 cm in circumference within two weeks. Progress continued with the heavier weight, which promoted further gains without causing soreness.

The thoughtful design—soft material with evenly distributed weight—makes these Weight Cuffs both effective and comfortable for patients. Owners are already asking when this product will be available on the market, which speaks to its practicality and appeal.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Biko K9 Weight Cuffs as a valuable tool in canine rehabilitation.

Testimonial from Ruff Day Vet

If you’re reading this, you probably fall into one of two camps: you’re either a rehab professional constantly searching for tools that actually move the needle for your patients, or you’re a dedicated sport dog handler who geeks out over proprioception and movement quality. Either way, you’ve learned to be skeptical of “game-changing” products. We get it, so are we.

So when we say the Biko K9 Weight Cuffs have become essential in our practice, we mean it. Here’s the real story:

How we discovered Biko products:
A patient walked into Ruff Day Vet using a wheelchair with Biko Bands—and we had no idea how to work with them. Annie reached out and guided us on their use, sparking our deep dive into Progressive Resistance Bands. When the Biko K9 Weight Cuffs launched, we jumped at the chance to test them.

What we actually see in practice:
The moment we put these cuffs on a dog, their proprioception shifts. We watch them become more aware of where their body is in space. Sometimes it reveals a compensation pattern we’d been missing. Other times, we see immediate gait improvements that last well beyond the appointment—often 30 minutes or more after we remove them.

Why they work for us:
They’re very simple and user-friendly. Color-coded weights, non-slip Velcro, made in the U.S. with quality materials. We use them on post-surgical patients rebuilding strength and on healthy sport dogs fine-tuning their conditioning. Clients can use them at home, which makes our job easier and their pet’s recovery faster. It’s also a lot of fun to put the weights on, see immediate improvement in a dog’s movements, and hear the owner say “Wow, that’s amazing! Those really help!”

Bottom line:
The Biko K9 Weight Cuffs have earned their spot in our rehab toolkit alongside the Biko Bands. They’re straightforward, safe, and they work. For vet rehab professionals or anyone serious about canine fitness, these are worth your attention.

The best part? They turn abstract concepts like “proprioceptive input” and “reflexive stability” into something your clients can see with their own eyes. That moment when an owner watches their dog move differently—more deliberately, more connected—is worth every penny.

We don’t partner with many companies, but aniMotion has consistently delivered tools that respect both our clinical standards and our clients’ intelligence. If you’re on the fence, just try them. We think you’ll end up as enthusiastic as we are.

Alice & Rue

Alice WhitelawI can 100% recommend Biko Bands for building and maintaining your dog’s hind-end strength and stability.

I contacted aniMotion back in September 2025 to order the progressive resistance rehab band system, and within a day, Annie Janis, the owner, reached out, asking for videos of my conservation detection dog, Rue. She shared these videos with her Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Appel to assess Rue’s movement. I was impressed with how carefully they assessed Rue before recommending a program with the Biko Bands. Although Rue is still very strong GSD, I was beginning to notice some hind-end changes at 12 years of age.

Within two weeks of consistent use of the bands, I noticed an improvement in Rue’s hind-end strength. She was able to back up more easily in tight spots, and at the end of three-mile hikes, she no longer had the occasional back feet toenail drags. Now after almost 4 months of use I will continue to use the bands for Rue as the results have been significant and I’m confident that their use will improve her quality of life as she ages.

Annie, I don’t know if your remember me, but I bought a pair of Biko PR bands from you through my dog’s physical therapist, Ria Acciani, in early 2014. Oscar my Swedish Vallhund had ruptured a cervical disk in late 2013 and was totally paralyzed from neck down. Emergency surgery saved his life but learning to walk again was nothing short of a herculean task.

Oscar had been a top show dog in his breed before his accident. After he began to walk again, a neurologist told me that she didn’t think he’d walk normally again. Well, she was wrong. We performed intensive physical therapy with Oscar (still do to this day) and one year later, in February of this year, he WON HIS breed at Westminster.

We still use the bands to this day as part of his PT regimen to keep him in shape. I really believe they made a HUGE difference in Oscar getting his normal hind gait back again. And so, I want to thank you for an awesome product. Biko Bands truly help Oscar to regain his championship form. If you are interested, I’ll send you links to the Westminster Kennel club dog show where you can see Oscar strut his stuff.

We have two senior dogs with hind-end mobility issues. A 14 1/2-year-old Husky/Lab with degeneration and stenosis in the lumbar spine and a 17-year-old Border Collie with arthritis in his hips. Both were experiencing altered gaits and muscle atrophy. I’m a personal trainer and was trying to figure out a way to use resistance bands to strengthen and build muscle in their hind ends.

I happened to learn about the Biko bands and contacted Annie that same day. She determined both boys were good candidates for the bands. Their results have been impressive! The first time we used them I noticed improved gait and confidence in their ability to walk and move with more control over their legs.

They have both continued to gain strength and they are moving a lot more rather than lying around. Both boys have improved gaits and the Border Collie can once again go up and down stairs…something he’s been unable to do for a long time. I highly recommend the Biko bands. I only wish I’d found out about them much sooner!

Catherine Markijohn, DVM and Olivia

The Bands weren’t necessarily indicated for Olivia’s condition, but it seemed like it was going to be exactly what we needed to do to keep her feet placed properly. Olivia still requires the Biko Bands to be able to place her feet properly and always will because there is permanent neurologic damage.

With the Biko Bands she is able to walk much more comfortably and has built up such an incredible amount of muscle back there and even though she doesn’t have the neurological input she’s getting the physical input and building up these muscles has allowed her to hold up her tail and her back in a more normal position. She wags her tail now whereas before it was usually down because she had minimal function then. We are just so happy with how she has been doing.”
