Biko K9 Weight Cuffs
Using the Biko K9 Weight Cuffs in dogs offers a range of benefits:
- Improves range of motion and gait
- Builds strength and muscle mass
- Increases bone density
- Improves proprioception
The Biko K9 Weight Cuffs are worn above the tarsal joint of the dog’s hind limbs. The weights are determined by the dog’s body weight. Your veterinarian, rehab practitioner, or handler will advise you on the appropriate weights to use on your dog. Weights range from ½ ounce to 4 ounces. Training should be from lighter weights to heavier ones.
To Achieve Maximum Benefits
Use the Biko K9 Weight Cuffs for controlled short durations of time, at paces that are low impact. For example: leashed walks and controlled trots. When using both Biko K9 Weight Cuffs and Biko Resistance Bands on your dog, always use separately, at opposite time of the day, or on different days.
Weight cuffs are not intended for dogs with:
- Achilles tendon injuries
- Tarsal joint injuries
- Metatarsal or hind limb digit injuries
Weight cuffs are typically not used on the dog’s forelimbs because dogs place 60% of their body weight through their forelimbs. Thus placing more weight on their forelimbs may be harmful. However, there are conditions where using weight cuffs on the forelimbs are indicated. Your veterinarian will advise when and how to use.
Non-Toxic & Durable
Weights are filled with non-toxic purple pink garnet sand and evenly distributed throughout the weight cuff. The cuffs are made of a durable neoprene for long term use and a textured neoprene lines the inside of the weight cuff to prevent slippage. The Velcro strap holds the weight cuffs comfortably in place above the dog’s tarsal joint.
Progressive Weights come in small and medium/large:
Currently available for medium/large dogs (over 25lbs) in four* weight options that are color-coded for ease of use:

Weight Cuffs for small dogs under 25 lbs: (available in mid Spring)

Measuring for the Biko K9 Weight Cuffs is quick and easy
All that is needed is just one measurement.
Use a flexible tape measure to measure the circumference of the dog’s hind limb above the tarsal joint (where the weight cuff will sit).*
*While weight cuffs are typically not worn on the dog’s forelimbs, there are conditions where using weight cuffs on the forelimbs are indicated. When measuring the dog for forelimb weight cuffs, use a flexible tape measure to determine the circumference of the limb where the cuff will be placed – usually above the elbow or the mid-forearm. Your veterinarian will advise when and how to use.
